Block Congress. Bengaluru court issues notice to Twitter for copyright infringement

By Nalini SharmaA Bengaluru court on Monday ordered microblogging site Twitter to temporarily block the Congress and its Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign for allegedly violating copyright norms.
The lawsuit was held as follows MRT Music’s complaintThe Bengaluru-based music label that had accused the Congress of using songs from the superhit film KGF 2 in one of its Bharat Jodo Yatra videos featuring Rahul Gandhi.
In its complaint, the music company had said that it had invested huge amounts of money to acquire the rights of the Hindi language songs in KGF 2.
In its ruling, the court said the music label had specifically released a CD that showed a side-by-side file, meaning the original of its copyrighted work with an illegally synchronized version.
“This prima facie material before this court at this stage establishes that if the same petitioner who is in the business of acquiring motion pictures, songs, music albums etc. is encouraged, irreparable harm will be caused and further the same will lead to encouragement of piracy. at large (sic),” the court noted.
In the order, the court directed Twitter to remove three links from the two handles and further block the Twitter handles of the Congress and Bharat Jodo Yatra.
MRT Music had also filed a case against three Congress leaders — Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and Supriya Srinath — for copyright infringement.
“These illegal actions by a national political party reflect their blatant disregard for the rule of law and the rights of private individuals and organizations as they conduct this Bharat Jodo Yatra to seek an opportunity to rule the country and legislate to protect rights. about the common man and the business,” MRT Music said in a statement.
CONGRESS IS RESPONDING
Reacting to the court order, Congress said it would pursue all legal remedies at its disposal.
“We have read on social media about the controversial order by Bengaluru court against INC & BJY SM figures. We were neither informed nor present at the court proceedings. No copy of order received. We are pursuing all legal remedies. at our disposal,” the Congress tweeted.
