Cellular Phone Technology – Unleashing the Future of Smart Phones
Most people don’t realize how fast cell phone technology is moving today, it seems to be growing exponentially. As we explore all the new apps and features along with all the new devices, we see that there is no stopping this progress. The question is; are you in or out Will you embrace these new technologies and applications or fear them. Are you sure you believe these innovations? What about privacy, hacking, what about the future?
To quickly illustrate how fast things are moving in the smartphone space, let me give you a few examples. They are current as of this week; personal technical articles in the smart mobile phone industry. The first article I found was on Boston.com, an article titled: “Check This Out: Deposit Money By Taking a Photo,” by Andrew Vanacore – AP Business Writer / February 23, 2010 In the article, the author states:
“In the near future, you may not even have to visit a bank or an ATM to deposit a check. You will just take some pictures of it with your mobile phone. Apps that do just that are now available for Apple’s iPhone and other gadgets from USAA, a company that provides insurance and banking primarily for military veterans.”
He goes on to explain in this personal mobile smart cell phone technology material that banks like Chase, B of A and Citibank seem to be all in on this technology, the author of the article suggests, and they will be introducing this technology in 2010. The concept is called “capture of remote depositing’, and while this seems like a great technology and user-friendly concept, we also have to remember the target that mobile users have become for hackers, especially as we learn about the release of secret codes used to encrypt such devices .
Scary stuff, for those who use such apps, but really, it sure would make electronic deposits easy, right? Of course, if mobile banking bothers you, maybe we should offer real-time window shopping on your mobile? There’s no point in shopping anymore, just walk up to the window even if the store is closed and hit buy, and it’s yours and shipped to your home. Online shopping while window shopping.
A recent article in the New York Times explains it all. The title of the article; “Mobile Phones Let Shoppers Point, Click and Buy” by Stephanie Rosenbloom – Posted: February 26, 2010 The author explains how shoppers can use their mobile phone to order from a retail storefront and buy online , simply by indicating the item in the window; wow that’s awesome.
Wow, what a concept, all through the technology of your smart phone. And this is something that will definitely be a hit among mobile phone buyers and users. Ok, so what about calling from a smart phone on Skype? Yes, this is also available now; In India’s TopNews Online and an article titled; “Samsung embeds Skype” Posted by Jimmy Peterson on Sat, 02/27/2010 – 12:25 says it all. The article explores the impressive growth of features to use Skype in various smart phones, as if this could become the international standard for all mobile phones in the future. Panasonic and LG already offer this and it’s a big hit in the EU and Asian markets.
No matter how quickly one company introduces a new feature, everyone else seems to follow suit. Just because Apple or Google has a new app doesn’t mean the industry won’t make it a standard feature on all smartphones, just like a digital camera, videos, etc. Sure, technologies or apps might work a little differently due to patents, software, device hardware, but basically all companies will offer all apps eventually.
The competitive nature of the industry is heating up as hundreds of millions of Chinese, Indians, Southeast Asians, Africans and South Americans get their first mobile devices, face it, it’s a wired world. In fact, in a recent article in the online version of MB Manila Publishing Company; “Report: Global phone sales grow 8% in fourth quarter” Melvin G. Callimag on Feb 27, 2010, 2:19 pm explains how smartphone sales hit record highs in 2009 by nearly 25% and may doubled in 2010.
Indeed, I would say that this is an exciting time in the mobile smart personal technology sector, you might want to upgrade, jump in and enjoy some of the amazing apps that are being announced every month, even weekly in some cases. Why not consider upgrading your mobile smartphone and sign up for a new mobile calling plan? Please consider all of this because our online think tank is.
