Cheerleading Makeup: 9 Ways to Use Glitter in Dancing With the Stars Style!

Oh yeah, and before I get started: There are two very important points I’d like to share with you about using glitter for your cheerleading makeup.
First, when applying glitter to the eyes, small amounts get into the eyes, so please only use “cosmetic grade” glitter. When glitter is labeled as “cosmetic grade” glitter, it means that the individual pieces of glitter are much smaller and much more precise than just “artisan” quality glitter. There are no dangerous sharp corners that can make small cuts like hairs in the eye or cornea and allow an eye infection to develop.
Second, since you might be using lip gloss, you’re technically probably going to EAT the gloss. PLEASE only use glitter made in the USA. When glitter is made in other countries, it is not as thoroughly inspected as it is here in the United States. You can’t be sure what you’re getting! Makeup with glitter is an important part of a cheerleader’s costume. Using cosmetic glitter for your cheerleader makeup may mean paying a little more. However, you should use the highest quality gloss when you are near the delicate eye and lip area.
1) On your body: Mix the glitter with your body lotion and apply to legs, arms, collarbones… anywhere you want to shine!
2) Highlight the cheekbones: Apply glitter high on the cheekbones like a glue highlighter.
3) Highlight the cheekbones and browbones: Apply glitter high on the cheekbones and browbones with glue.
4) On lips: Mix the gloss with your lip gloss and apply to lips alone or over any lipstick color
5) Corners of the eyes: Apply a bright silver or gold or white/iridescent glitter to the inner and outer corners of the eyes. This little highlight brightens up the eyes and makes your cheerleader makeup really pop!
6) As an eyeliner: Apply glitter as an eyeliner with glitter glue.
7) On the lid: Apply glitter with a brush or finger on the lid over eyeshadow for a subtle effect
8) In the hair: Spray hairspray in your hand, rub hands together, rinse hands
9) On the lid and crease: Apply your favorite eyeshadow color (or team color!) all over the lid and up into the crease and then apply glitter glue on top. Use a makeup brush and apply a neutral shade of shimmer all over the lid and crease for intensely dramatic eyes!
