Donald Trump news live. DeSantis faced 2024 chants after Florida win as ‘disturbed’ Trump vows to spill dirt on him

“Get ready!” Trump says he is “very likely” to run for president again in 2024

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has cruised to a second term despite the ominous threat of Donald Trump, according to forecasts. Associated Press.

Mr. Trump warned that Mr. DeSantis “could hurt himself very badly” if he tried to run for president in 2024, as many speculated he might.

Some political operatives and pundits see Mr. DeSantis, who has gained national notoriety for stoking culture wars over race and gender in Florida schools, as a younger, more nimble, less gaffe-prone version of Mr. Trump.

Mr Trump had still not congratulated Mr DeSantis more than 90 minutes later AP: entered the race, even though he had earlier told reporters that he had voted for him in his home county in Florida.

Meanwhile, the former president himself wasted no time in raising baseless allegations of electoral fraud and calling on his followers to protest before the by-polls even closed.

Trump’s allies are winning big

Whatever the overall results, many of Mr. Trump’s personal allies prospered in today’s vote.

Marco Rubio, Matt Goetz, JD Vance and former Trump PR aide Sarah Huckabee Sanders all enjoyed strong showings, my colleague writes. John Bowden in Washington.

ICYMI. Trump Unleashes Truth Social After Vote

After casting his vote in Florida, Donald Trump unleashed a series of election-related posts on Truth Social.

In one, he outlined all the candidates he endorsed this election cycle, calling the endorsements “TRUMP’S UNPRECEDENTED SUCCESS.”

He then wrote: “Reports coming out of Arizona that Voting Machines are not working properly in mostly Republican/Conservative areas. Could that be true when the vast majority of Republicans were expecting today’s vote? Here we go again! The people will not stand!!!”

In another post, the former president added: MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

Then he came. “Pennsylvania just announced that it could take days to decide the winner. This is infuriating.”

“Another big voter tabulation issue in Arizona. Sound familiar???”

“The absent ballot situation in Detroit is REALLY bad. People show up to Vote only to be told “sorry, you’ve already voted”. This happens in large numbers, elsewhere too. Complain, complain, complain.”

“Maricopa County, Arizona looks like a total voter integrity disaster. Likewise Detroit (of course), Pennsylvania, and other places. Not covered by the fake news media.”

Who will emerge as the true Maga King?

Who will be the true king of maga after tonight’s dust settles? My partner Andrew Buncombe examines the growing rivalry between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.

“Two clear indications emerged this week of how Trump may feel threatened by the younger, Yale-educated DeSantis,” Andrew writes.

“On Saturday, he experimented with the Florida governor’s malicious moniker, ‘Ron DeSanctimonius,’ which he did when he was threatened by ‘Crooked Hillary’ Clinton, ‘Little Marco’ Rubio and ‘Lying Ted’ Cruz.” …

“George Washington University political science professor Todd Belt said when DeSantis refused to seek a second term in a debate with Crist, it underscored the belief that he plans to run for president.”

ICYMI. Trump settles tomato lawsuit

Former president Donald Trump settled in quietly lawsuit against him protesters who was allegedly beaten by his personal security guards days after announcing his first presidential campaign in 2016.

Lawyers for both Mr. Trump and the protesters told NBC News that the case was resolved just as a jury was being selected for the trial in a Brooklyn courtroom.

Benjamin Diktor, an attorney representing the protesters, said the settlement was an “incredible day” for his clients, whom he described as “lifelong community activists … who stood up to defend the right to free speech on the public sidewalk and argued. seven years.”

“Today, the issue was resolved under such conditions that they are very, very satisfied,” he added.

“These results are farcical”

The mood has soured Pro-Trump online communitieswhere users are already blaming voter fraud for the RPA’s weaker-than-expected results.

“These results are farcical,” reads one poster of The Donald, who bills himself as the successor to the banned Reddit board TheDonald. “There’s no rhyme or reason. You don’t hit from the Florida panhandle and then magically cross state lines into a ‘highly competitive’ area in Georgia.”

Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia and New York state have been singled out as suspected fraud centers (to make it clear that there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in today’s vote).

“They keep finding votes for Fetterf*** rigged in Pennsylvania,” said one user, referring to Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman. “They are 100% going to steal Georgia [Raphael] Warnock,” said another.

One user was surprised by the apparent victory of New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, saying: [Kathy] Hochul won… the whole f*** king map is red except for three regions.” (Most New York counties are indeed lean Republican, but nearly 43 percent of the state’s population lives in deep blue New York City.)

Many users blamed Republicans for squandering the radical energy unleashed by Mr. Trump.

“RNC/GOP, McConnell, McCarthy got the results they wanted,” said one. “Tonight was all about splitting the party and choking populism out of the party. And they did it. Trump will run, but probably not after tonight.”

“Since 2015, Trump has given a victory message to the RPA. Instead of working with him, they worked against him at every turn. This election just proved that they did more to stop the America First candidates than they did. did the radical faces.”

Don vs. Don

Donald Trump blamed the apparent defeat of the New Hampshire US Senate candidate Don Bolduc on his insufficient enthusiasm for the so-called “Big Lie”.

“Don Balduc was a very good guy, but he lost tonight when he backed away from his longstanding position on voter fraud in the 2020 presidential primaries after his big primary victory,” Mr. Trump said on Truth Social right now. (“Preliminary” seems to be a misspelling of “choice”).

“If he had stayed strong and loyal, he would have won easily. Lessons learned.”

Mr. Bolduc, a former U.S. Army brigadier general, was tipped by some as a potential winnerbut is now likely to lose to Democratic incumbent Maggie Hassan.

During the Republican primary election, Bolduc falsely claimed that Trump had won the 2020 presidential election, however. changed his position after winning the nomination.

For anyone wondering, Mr. Trump has yet to say anything about Ron DeSantis’ Florida win.

Lindsey Graham says Trump’s primary launch will be in 2024

South Carolina senator and Trump ally Lindsay Graham He said the former president will carry the 2024 race himself, no matter what Ron DeSantis decides to do.

Asked about the blossoming Don-Ron rivalry NBC News just now Mr. Graham said. “Here’s what I think. President Trump, if he announces next week, which I think he likely will, will have about six months.

“He has a chance to get a wall of money, huh? [lot] support and close this thing. And if that doesn’t work, I think many people will nominate themselves.

“But he’ll have his shot for four or five months where he’ll have it to himself, and we’ll see how he does.”

Commenting on the broader Republican results, which were not as strong as some polls had suggested, Mr Graham said: “It’s definitely not a wave, but I think it’s going to be a very good night.”

Trump delays 2024 announcement until midterms end, despite election eve teasing

Former president Donald Trump Monday’s rally for the Ohio Senate candidate culminated in hours of rehashing of old grievances. JD Vance not announcing his intention to run for president in 2024.

The twice-impeached former president failed to announce his candidacy for the presidency, which is not due for another two years, although allies and proxies spent much of the day ahead of the 2022 midterm elections fueling rumors and Hyping for a possible 2024 announcement from Mr. Trump.

A staunch ally of the former president, the Florida representative Matt Getzeven took to Twitter to encourage Mr. Trump’s third presidential bid, writing: “Trump should announce tonight.”

Kudos to Rubio, but not DeSantis

Mr. Trump did not appear to mention Ron DeSantis at all in his speech Mar-a-Lagoinstead praising other Republican candidates he has endorsed.

“You know, JD Vance now leads 52-47. We had an incredible rally last night in Ohio,” he said.

“And in Florida, Marco Rubio, we had an incredible rally for Marco, the night before, with the heaviest rain I’ve ever been to.”

(He spent a bit of time describing “huge buckets of water” and other bad weather he endured while in Florida.)

“But Marco had a fantastic evening,” Mr Trump continued. “It’s really huge.

He praised Kathy Britt, who recently won Alabama’s US Senate race, and Herschel Walker, who is now neck-and-neck with Georgia incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock.

He also gave a little praise to the media, saying: “They’re not the best people in the world, but they’re financially brilliant…thank you all for being here. Have a good time.” Hello, Don.

Trump speaks, but only briefly

Donald Trump seems to have finished his speech Mar-a-Lago After just a few minutes, which he spent bragging that the candidates he supported had won their elections.

The audio cut out early in his speech, but I didn’t hear him mention Ron DeSantis.
