New Twitter billionaire Elon Musk shared a meme on the social network Monday morning that featured a photo of a Nazi soldier.

“How times have changed,” the billionaire wrote tweet.

The photo has been photoshopped to include a small notification icon above the cage of carrier pigeons on the soldier’s back. Its inscription was written. “3 unread messages.”

“Back when birds were real,” Musk later wrote tweetbefore adding additional comment with a head exploding emoji.

The photo Musk shared was of a German soldier and his pigeons captured in May 1940 in France, according to Getty Images.

During World War II, pigeons were used by both Axis and Allies to share messages.

Musk’s meme comes just days after he finally took over the social media giant and began making major changes, wiping out content moderation teams, announcing that approval badges can be purchased for an $8 subscription fee, and Firing thousands of Twitter employees.

Musk, a self-proclaimed champion of “free speech,” also announced Twitter’s mission to become “the most accurate source of information.”

But his actions contradict his stated goals. he shared a widely debunked conspiracy theory about an attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband days after buying the site.

Musk also said that “humor is now legal” after buying the social media platform, but announced this week that parody accounts must now be clearly labeled or users will be permanently banned. Twitter has began suspending verified users impersonating Musk make fun of him.
