Find the faith to deal with adversity

Find the faith to deal with adversity

Couldn’t you use a little more faith today? How can we expect to deal with a natural disaster or acts of terrorism without faith in God?

If you’re like me, you’ve been glued to the TV and horrified by the images of suffering that this terrible hurricane and flood has portrayed.

Many of you may be wondering where God’s hand is in all of this. Don’t waste your time trying to blame God. Ask him for help to deal with this tragedy. Take an example of the faith the victims describe.

We must muster the resolve to deal with some of the terrible things that are happening all around us. We must rely on our faith in God.

Sometimes it is hard to have faith when we see people suffering, losing their homes, their loved ones and even their lives, but if we just have faith in God, we can learn to cope with the tragedies that befall us.

In the midst of all this tragedy and suffering, the true spirit of America will emerge. We are a people of faith in God. We must do everything we can to help the victims of this terrible hurricane. We must take action to help those among us who currently cannot help themselves. We must act.

Only when each of us in our own way begins to participate in the recovery will we begin to find faith to deal with this terrible event.

Many of us might be thinking “what would I do if this happened to me”. The answer is that we will try to deal with the situation as best we can, relying on our faith in God.

Let us all unite in a spirit of goodwill and help our fellow citizens in need. Let’s do our best to make their lives more comfortable. The next calamity may befall you and me. Then we might be the ones who need help.

The lesson to be learned from tragic events or terrorist acts is the display of faith in the future that survivors show as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives and build a better future. Life goes on. Nature complements itself and in the process generates new life and the environment needed for a brighter future. People of faith learn to deal with acts of terrorism and natural disasters. The creation of life unfolds and restores itself under God’s favor and as manifested in his unfathomably grand design.

It’s fair to say that if it wasn’t for the grace of God, I’m going. This scares many of us. The only way to deal with these fears is through faith in God and doing good deeds. This is what our common Lord calls us to.

Perhaps we can channel our fears into constructive efforts to help the victims of this tragedy and ourselves. Perhaps we can find the faith to persevere in our efforts to restore the virtue of our nation. Maybe we can find faith in God to help us deal with natural disasters and terrorism. Maybe we can help create a better future for all of us. Maybe this is part of God’s grand plan.
