Horse racing handicapping systems based on the hand horse board that work
Horse racing systems that work are rare. When I say work, I mean making money sometimes and also picking winners. Nothing works all the time, but some things in racing endure and stand the test of time. Using the odds to find a good bet is one of the surest ways to win. First of all, though, you need to have some understanding of statistics, which has held up very well, and you also need to understand probability.
Don’t be afraid of the possibility. You use it all the time in your life, but you may not have noticed or realized how often you think in terms of odds and predictions. For example, a 20% chance of rain is one way to use odds. You hear the weather forecast, then you go outside and look up at the sky. Heavy clouds hang low overhead and you feel a wind from the south. “It’s more likely a 90% chance of rain,” you tell yourself. As if on cue, the clouds open and rain pours down.
You just beat the odds. That is, you were better at determining the probability than the meteorologist.
You watch a race and see that the favorite has never won over the course and distance and yet it’s 4-5. Is it a good bet? You know that statistically favorites don’t make a profit. With so much money being poured into one horse, there has to be another horse that isn’t well backed. You look at the spread and note that there are three horses with odds greater than 9-1. These are your long shots, but who’s live? Then knowing the stats and looking at the checkers will help you see which horse is backed by inside money.
Good betting systems come in several varieties, but they all have one thing in common, they find good bets. They may choose a good place bet or a show bet or even something in the exotic. The important thing is that it looks you and everyone else straight in the face. Have you ever seen the crowd of guys standing in front of the tote or watching the odds on the racetrack screen?
Yes, some of them don’t know what they are doing, but some do. In fact, some win because they understand how to use these odds.
