My arrest will be the biggest mistake of their political career, says Raut after his release
Wrapped around his neck was a saffron scarf bearing the image of Shiv Sena, Sanjay Rout has been released from Arthur Road Jail Wednesday at 18.45. Standing outside the jail, Raut reaffirmed his commitment to Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership and said he would continue to take on those in power.
Raut, who was released on bail after spending 100 days behind bars, was welcomed by Shiv Sainiks who gathered outside Arthur Road Jail and also outside his residence in Bhandup.
“I feel happy after coming out. We are fighters and we will continue to fight. I’ve spent my whole life there Shiv Sena. I have lived with Sena and I will die with Sena, but I will not leave Sena and I will not go anywhere. I will prefer to die instead, but I will never leave the Sena,” Raut said after coming out of jail, where he was surrounded by Sainiks who had come to express their solidarity.
At his Bhandup residence, hours after his release, Raut said he would now fight the opposition with all his might and would not stop.
“My family members did not cry during my detention, but today, when I was released, they cried. But now is not the time to cry, it is the time to fight. I have become free now, so I will not stop and will come out with full force (against the opposition). Now we have to fight with full force,” Raut told Sainiks gathered outside his residence in Bhandup, adding, “I was arrested from here… when I left the house, I said that I would prefer death, but I will not bow down and surrender to him. Delhi“.
Sena-UBT leader said. “They don’t know what a big mistake they made by arresting me. It will be the biggest mistake of their political career. They will soon find out. Every second of my life is dedicated to Sena. Today, the court said the arrest was illegal. Detain me as much as you want, but I will not leave Sena.
After his release, Raut first headed to the Hanuman temple in the south Mumbai, then visited Siddhivinayak Temple and Bal Thackeray Memorial. He was accompanied by hundreds of Sainiks on motorcycles. He finally reached his residence in Bhandup where he was given a grand welcome by his family members and hundreds of Shiv Sainiks.
Leaders of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) as well as its Maha Vikas Aghadi ally Congress and NCP welcome his release.
“The cannon is back on the battlefield and the Shiv Sena’s tiger is back. He is a staunch Shiv Sainik of Balasaheb Thackeray…even after using so many pressure methods against him, he has not betrayed anyone or changed sides under pressure. He is not a coward like others who ran away after coming under pressure,” said Sena-UBT MLA Aaditya Thackeray.
The NCP also welcomed Raut’s release, with party MP Rohit Pawar tweeting a video of the tiger being released from its cage and tagging Raut in it with the text Satyamev Jayate.
NCP leader and MP Supriya Sule also welcomed the decision and called Raut a warrior. “Be it Sanjay Raut, Anil Deshmukh or Nawab Malikji, they are all fighters of the state and the country. They fought. The way they were arrested was painful. Deshmukhji got bail, now Rautji also got bail. I hope Nawabji will also get bail and be released soon. We believed in the judiciary, and accordingly, today the judiciary has delivered justice. I thank the courts for that,” Sule said.
Maharashtra Congress President Balasaheb Thorat said. “We are happy that Sanjay Raut has been released on bail. But the current period in the country is such that if the opposition speaks, then they call it a traitor. Dissent has now become a crime and autonomous agencies like ED (Enforcement Directorate) and IT (Income Tax Department) are being misused for politics. Personalities like Raut who take a stand suffered because of it. Today he was released on bail by the court… the court made some observations during that time… we welcome the decision and are happy.”
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena of Balasahebanchi said that till Raut is released, he should ensure that he follows through on his words or be ready to act accordingly. “We wish him good health and success. But if he says something wrong, we will give a worthy answer. If he speaks well and makes his criticisms in appropriate language, then there will be no problem. We don’t want any personal rift, but appropriate language should be used while criticizing,” said state minister and spokesperson Deepak Kesarkar. Eknath Shinde group
Meanwhile, the Raut family lit up their Bhandup residence in anticipation of the Sena leader’s arrival. “Diwali is for us. We could not celebrate Diwali or Dussehra as the saheb was in jail. Now that he is back, it is Diwali for us and we are celebrating Diwali today,” said Shiv Sena MLA Sunil Raut, Raut’s younger brother.
