Why I don’t celebrate Christmas anymore
I was blessed to grow up in Risingson, Ohio, next door to my Hoover grandparents on their farm that hugged where we lived, surrounding us with loving arms on either side (until age 11) and behind, with our woods over a little there that I loved to walk through as a boy, always looking for my “brother” hawk that circled overhead to greet me.
Anyway, besides my parents, Grandma and Grandpa Hoover always made sure we had a lavish Christmas celebration in every sense of the word. We always went to their house, next door (an orchard between us), on Christmas Eve and to my Grandma King’s in Fostoria on Christmas Day.
Grandma Vivian Hoover always made sure we had an abundance of wonderful home-cooked food and baked goods of all kinds and different kinds of fudge and peanut brittle (my sister Sue and Grandpa loved it) and we each had ten presents to open. He bought year-round from mail-order catalogs and hid them upstairs. She also preferred blue Christmas lights, like the candles in the windows, and always made us take down the box with her fake tree (because she was allergic to the real one) and the sleigh bells to put around the front door and candy canes for the tree. .
As kids, my sisters and I always wanted to open our presents right away, but Grandma would leave that decision up to Dad to decide whether we ate first or not. We ate first (which is undoubtedly wise).
So I know the warm and wonderful Christmas memories that many have after experiencing them, but after learning that such holidays are actually pagan in origin, unclean rituals that the Great Creator God of the Bible forbids His children and that God wants we enjoy family and friends and wonderful memories His biblical holidays that are kosher, I immediately stopped celebrating Christmas and started celebrating God’s holy days with His blessing. Now I’m trying to help the disclosure Christmas is an abomination to others who may never have known otherwise!
I hope and pray for America and our Israelite peoples everywhere, who have been Gentiles in too many ways, to remember our Jewish roots (identified on the website of Brit Am Israel) and biblical responsibilities and draw closer to our God and further away from those ways and days that He strongly disapproves of because God loves us.
